Who are we?
We are drawn (ideally) from all
the churches in the United Parish. Current members are: Chris Foote (Chair),
Correen Gorton, Rona Knight, Bridget le Huray, Gill Skinner, Bob Sluka and Ella
Wright. New members welcome – please contact Chris for details.
Who do we support? 50% of our giving is sent to overseas causes – currently the Well-baby clinics project, via Embrace the Middle East and to our CMS partners, Ben and Katy Ray at their Neema workshop in Tanzania. 10% of our giving is made to each of PACT, A Rocha, and The Porch organisation. A further 2.5% is given to the Village Centre and the Youth Centre in Chinnor.
Contingency Fund: We retain the remaining amount which we allocate to the relief of urgent need and to other local activities. Recently we have supported refugees in Syria and the Middle East, Stop the Trafik, Oxfordshire Blind Association, the WOW bus outreach to the Kiln Lakes estate and the ReInspire work in schools in the parish.
Lent Appeal: we also organise the annual Lent Appeal – recent appeals have included Mission to Seamen, Toilet Twinning and Water Aid.
Raising the profile of mission outreach: we have done this in various ways – this booklet is our latest venture – feedback welcomed! CLICK HERE to read our booklet find out more about the work we do.

The parish has three choirs: One in St. Andrew's Church, Chinnor, another at St Mary's Sydenham and also a Treble Choir which is for younger members of our parish at St. Andrew's.
All choirs have duties at Sunday services, weddings, Christmas, Easter and other events throughout the year.
St. Andrew's Choir is a vibrant and successful choir but they do need more members, especially men. They meet for choir practice every Friday evening at 6.45pm and sing at regular services, but no one is expected to sing on every available occasion. We are very friendly! Why not join us? If you’re interested, give John a call on 01844-353559.
St. Mary's Choir also does a grand job in Sydenham of providing choral services to the church. They too are keen for more male members, contact the Sydenham church wardens for more details.
The Treble Choir The Treble Choir meets most Fridays during term time from 6.00 to about 6.40. We continue to support the worship at the St. Andrew's Family Service. We tend to choose more contemporary worship music . We would love to increase our numbers too, contact the church office for more details.
St. Andrew's, Chinnor and St. Peter and St Paul, Aston Rowant both have bell towers with regular teams of ringers. They ring for the usual services many weddings and other special occasions. Both churches are continually looking for new members, so if its something you would like to try please contact the church office for more details.
The St Andrew’s Church Flower Guild has a number of very competent, talented and experienced flower arrangers. The Guild is available for a full floral service, in church as well as outside venues, to include bouquets and buttonholes. The Flower Guild is willing to work around any budget. If you would like more information about what the Flower Guild can offer for your special day, please do not hesitate to contact the Flower Guild Co-ordinator in order to discuss colour, types of flower, foliage, and placement. The Flower Guild are also willing to arrange flowers for baptisms, funerals or any other special occasion in church, as well as for functions such as wedding receptions, etc.
If you’d like to take advantage of this service, please arrange a meeting with the Flower Guild Coordinator as soon as possible so that we can provide you with the best possible service.

All four churches are always in need of additional organ players. We are also on the look out for a new 'Head Parish Organist', someone who is able to play regularly at services, weddings and funerals and also organise monthly rotas. If you think you might be able to help please contact us.
‘Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours, yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion is to look out to the earth, yours are the feet by which He is to go about doing good and yours are the hands by which He is to bless us now.’ We could also add, ‘Christ has no purse but yours, yours is the money that enables good works to happen.’
